Little Rock, Arkansas – On Wednesday, March 22, 2017, Entergy Arkansas presented a check for over $58,000 in energy efficiency incentives to ATA International for making a commitment to reducing the amount of electricity required for operation.

 

ATA International is one of the world’s largest and most successful martial arts organizations.  Their goal is to help change people’s lives for the better by physically training the body, while instilling the life skills attributed to the discipline of Songahm Taekwondo.  They have been actively engaged in central Arkansas since 1977, where they are headquartered and where they employ nearly 60 people.  Their new 45,000 square foot HQ building was opened in late November 2016. 

 

Participation in Entergy’s Large Commercial & Industrial Program resulted in a $58,578.76 incentive for construction of their new headquarters. Several energy efficiency measures impacted the generated incentive including:  high efficiency LED lighting, a direct digital controls (DDC) system, high efficiency air conditioning, and building envelope design improvements.  In addition to the incentives from Entergy, the design and construction of the building will yield approximately 1 million kWh of energy saved per year and approximately $20,000 in energy dollars saved per year, when compared to that of a minimum code-compliant building in Arkansas.

It is a tremendous opportunity to be able to participate in this type of program and be able to re-invest in our organization, which in turn will boost the economy of our community,” said Sun Lee, Chairman. “Additionally, the reduction of energy consumption is better for the environment, which falls in line with the teachings of martial arts and is very important to the ATA and our members.”

 

The new headquarters building was designed by Wittenberg, Delony & Davidson, Inc. Architects, and the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing engineering and design was provided by Batson Inc. Engineering Solutions.  Batson Inc., also provided the energy services for the project and worked closely with CLEAResult in order to help secure the energy incentives.
